Dunhuang Airport, in the city of Dunhuang in Gansu province, has added flights to Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, the airport now offers four round-trip flights per day between the two cities.
On those four days there are now two flights more per day than there were previously; on the other days of the week there are three flights per day.
The number of flights is expected to reach eight each day in the busy season, according to the authority.
The airport also opened a Dunhuang-Lanzhou-Tianjin flight and will offer a flight to Taiwan in May.
The Dunhuang Airport is undertaking the extension project to deal with an anticipated increase in passenger flow, since Dunhuang city will hold the Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo in September.
