Comfy restaurants draw customers in Lanzhou

A local legend: Lanzhou pulled noodles

Lanzhou hand-pulled beef noodles have a history of more than 100 years dating back to the Qing Dynasty (AD 1644-1912). The noodles have won fame at home and abroad.

Hand-pulled beef noodles are served in more than 20,000 eateries in some 25 provinces across China employing 300,000 workers, China Daily reported.

According to the Lanzhou commerce bureau, since 1979, 19 Lanzhou chefs have traveled to the United States and Japan to make noodles. To date, Lanzhou noodle restaurants have opened in more than 20 countries, including Singapore, South Korea and Turkey.
