Zhangye sets up offline Taobao pavilion

Zhangye city, in Northwest China's Gansu, officially opened its offline Taobao experience pavilion on Nov 11, with 102 local farmer cooperatives displaying and selling local products.
Zhangye is one of the China's top ten grain producers and top twelve vegetable producers. It is also home to abundant agricultural and animal products such as wheat, Chinese jujube and grapes.

In order to widen its distribution channels, the city opened a Taobao operating center. It will also construct the main hall of its Taobao offline experience pavilion along with 14 scenic branch pavilions. Once completed, it will facilitate sellers and customers to make both online and offline trades.

The new sales model combining online and offline trade is expected to enhance efficiency and increase farmers' income, according to the city's agriculture bureau.

Taobao, a large e-commerce platform, now works on cooperating with local governments to open local Taobao stores to promote different cities' specialties, tourism, art and culture.
