Around 3,000 people took part in Lanzhou's "Color Run", a five-kilometer race with colored powder, in Northwest China's Gansu province on May 1.

The Color Run is also known as the "Happiest 5km on the Planet", and is a celebration of healthiness, happiness and individuality. It was founded as a worldwide activity in 2011 and took its inspiration from the Hindu festival of Holi, or festival of colors, where Hindu people scatter colored powder onto each other to welcome the start of the New Year.

During the activity, participants wore white T-shirts and were sprinkled by different colored powder when running through stations. Participants finished the race plastered in a multitude of colors.

The host of the activity was Dalian Wanda Group, which has its headquarters in Beijing. The event was co-organized by the Gansu cultural and film television channel.
