Lanzhou rail station launches Spring Festival transportation

Lanzhou rail station, in Gansu province, was packed full of passengers waiting to board their trains home, on Feb 4. The day marks the first day of the 2015 Chinese Spring Festival transportation, known colloquially as the 'Spring Rush'.

The 40-day period of spring rush in 2015 is expected to transport 2.8 billion people throughout the whole country. The amount of passengers transported this year is expected to increase by up to 3.4% from 2014, according to the national Ministry of the Transport.
