More visitors travel to Dunhuang city

Dunhuang city, in Gansu province received 124,000 visitors during the National Day holiday, the number up 6.4 percent over last year,and the city took in more than 120 million yuan (nearly $20 million) from tourism, an annual increase of 10 percent.
The famous sites in Dunhuang city such as Mogao Grottoes and Crescent springs are seeing more than 10,000 guests every day. With the Silk Road listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the number of tourists who visited the sites of Jade Gate Pass and Yadan National Geological Park increased 9.3 percent compared with the previous year.
Even more, Dunhuang city held the first China Highway Music Festival and Dunhuang Dessert Music Festival to attract more tourists. With beautiful scenery and exciting activities, more visitors spend the night in Dunhuang, the number up 9 percent since the last National Day holiday. One more difference compared with previous holidays is that more people chose to make driving trips, with more than 85 percent of tourists who drove to Dunhuang.
