Lanzhou Ecomomic-Technological Development Area

The Lanzhou Economic-Technological Development Area (Lanzhou Economic Area for short) was set up in March 1993. It was a provincial development area at that time. It was permitted by the State Council to upgrade into a national economic-technological development area in March 2002 with a planned area of 9.53 square kilometers. In January 2011, the Lanzhou Economic Area expanded into Anning, Xigu, Honggu and Gaolan counties, setting up Anning Park, Xigu Park and Honggu Park with a planned area of 102.12 square kilometers. The Lanzhou Economic Area has unique location advantages and features.
Convenient traffic conditions
Zhongchuan Airport is 40 kilometers from the area. A railway station, the largest in Northwest China, a container transshipment station and a terminal station for the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway are under construction in the area. A total of 63 kilometers of roads and bridges have been built at a cost of 2.4 billion yuan ($390 million). The area has also launched a city transportation project with a total investment of 3 billion yuan. The project will build a BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system spanning 13 kilometers.
Concentration of universities and talent
There are more than 30 universities and research institutes in the Lanzhou Economic Area, including Northwest Normal University, Lanzhou Jiaotong University and Gansu Academy of Social Science. There are also more than 30,000 science and technology experts working in the area.
Fully-equipped water, electricity and fuel gas
A national-level substation ensures the power supply in the area, and the water supply adheres with national standards.
The Lanzhou Economic Area has a well-equipped drainage system with a daily wastewater treatment capacity of 63,000 cubic meters. Meanwhile, a gas network has been established by China Gas in Gansu to ensure the natural gas supply for industrial use and civil use.
The Lanzhou Economic Area has opened a “green channel” to simplify investment procedures, creating a good service environment for investors.
The Lanzhou Economic Area pays attentions to leading industries, including modern logistics, fine chemistry, nonferrous metallurgy and aeronautics.
Anning Park attaches great importance to industries including the headquarters economy, modern business, service and ecotourism.
Xigu Park has taken efforts to develop modern logistics, fine chemistry and tourism industries. The preferential industries of Honggu Park are the nonferrous metallurgy and coal chemical industry.
The Lanzhou Economic Area had 34,022 staff workers as of September 2012, 24,250 of whom are working in industrial enterprises.
