Wind power turbine parts are seen at the production line of Gansu Glod Wind Power Equipment Manufacturing Co located at Gansu Jiuquan Industrial Park in Jiuquan, Gansu province on June 30, 2010. |
A reporting group of journalists from the country's nine newspapers, news agencies and magazines paid a visit to Gansu Jiuquan Industrial Park's Wind Electricity Equipment Manufacture Industrial Park on June 30, 2010, ahead of the 2010 China (Jiuquan) International New Energy Industry Fair, which is set to be held in the city of Jiuquan, Gansu province on July 7.
The media group visited enterprises manufacturing wind power equipment such as wind power turbines and blades, which are to be installed at Jiuquan's 10-gigawatts wind power base only 150 km away from the park.
Using the locally manufactured wind power equipment will greatly reduce the transportation costs, as the equipment used in Jiuquan came from Lianyungang city of Jiangsu province before the park was established in 2008.
The wind power equipment manufactured at the park will also be provided for the planned 10-gW level wind power bases in Hami in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, western Inner Mongolia autonomous region and western Qinghai province, as all of them are within 600 kilometers from the park.
The establishment of a wind power equipment manufacturing park is in accordance with the country's target of reducing emissions and developing new energy, said Liu Yan, of the industrial park's regulation committee.
According to the National Development and Reform Commission's plan, Jiuquan's installed wind power capacity will reach 5.16 gW in 2010 and hit 12.71 gW by 2015.
