East China Sea Wonderland scenic resort is a coastal resort located at the southern foot of Wangye Mountain in Pingtan, Fujian province. It gets its name from the mysterious cliffs and peaks stretching along the shoreline, which are said to make the place look like a wonderland.
"Fairy Well" is one of the most famous wonders in the resort. The well is about 50 meters in diameter and over 40 meters in depth. At the bottom of the well, there are two holes connecting it to the sea outside. At high tide, water runs into the well like two dragons jumping through the white waves. Visitors may even hear roars from the well, which echo to the clouds.
Legends say that it was Tieguaili, one of the Eight Immortals of Chinese folklore, who dug the well to get water to alleviate his thirst. But since the well was so close to the Dragon King's palace, he disturbed the Dragon King and the Earth God, who united and fought against him. Finally, Teiguaili was defeated.
Nowadays, East China Sea Wonderland in Pingtan is a great attraction for visitors from home and abroad.
