Tannan Bay, situated in the southeast of Haitan Island in Pingtan, Fujian province, is one of the city's natural bathing beaches. Dubbed the "platinum coast", it has a 22-kilometer-long shoreline with enchanting seaside views.
Compared with Longfengtou, another beautiful beach in Pingtan, Tannan Bay is still a virgin land that has become increasingly popular among visitors in recent years.
You can either try your hands at beach volleyball or pitch a tent and lay back to enjoy the sunset with beer in hand.
If you are lucky enough, you may also catch the rare sight of a spectacular view: "Blue Tears". "Blue Tears" is a phenomenon caused by a myriad of ostracods, small crustaceans that are washed onto the beach by the rising tides each night. The flickering blue lights produced by these little creatures light up the night, creating a glowing sky for the admirers.
