A first look at Pingtan’s first authorized yacht

The Pingtan bureau of maritime affairs officially issued its first yacht certificate to a vessel named Haitan on Oct 27, marking the initiation of the standardized management of the yacht industry at Pingtan International Tourism Island.

Haitan is a high-end yacht, 19.45 meters in length and 5.55 meters in width. It weighs 90 tons equipped with two propellers and a variety of entertainment facilities.
Lu Fei, director of the government affairs center of Pingtan bureau of maritime affairs, said this yacht registration is the first step for Pingtan to take control of the yacht industry. Pingtan bureau of maritime affairs shall continue to streamline related examinations and approval procedures, enabling more qualified yachts to be registered as soon as possible.
He also said that training courses for yacht operators are expected to be launching soon, ensuring a safe water environment.
Currently, Haitan is anchored at the marina of Dafu Bay in Pingtan. Visitors are able to lease the boat and venture out for offshore leisure activities, including sea sightseeing and sea fishing.
