After three days of competing at a cross-Straits startup contest, six teams occupied the top three places of the competition on Monday.
Zongren Technology (Pingtan) won the first prize of 50,000 yuan with a score of 77.5. Its competing project was a LED-driven file transfer protocol (FTP). Zongren owns patent rights to the chip and the system used in it.
Research work on the project, which is now available on the market, started in 2015. The FTP is compatible with popular products on the market and presents a reasonable alternative to similar products, according to Zhong Weixu, operations manager of Zongren.
Zongren, set up at the Taiwan Innovation Park in March, is an innovative semi-conductor supplier that specializes in the design of integrated circuits.
Its founder is Taiwan resident Chen Mengbang, who was born in Taichung. Chen received a doctorate in electrical engineering from the Ivy League Brown University in 1994.
One judge of the contest Xu Dehong said that Zongren hires a highly educated staff as a technology company and that the introduction of high-tech projects such as semi-conductor design could help shape an industrial chain and benefit Pingtan's economic growth.
Xu manages two investment funds in Pingtan - one for start-ups and one for growth companies. They are backed by the governments of Fujian province and the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone.
Hai Zhi Ling Ying, a trade company in Fuzhou, and Weishi Jindouyun, a technology start-up based in Xiamen, shared the second place. They are both entitled to a 30,000 yuan prize.
Hai Zhi Ling Ying's competing project was highly valued by judges for promoting a healthy lifestyle by supplying organic milk.
The other second place winner was a low-altitude aerial photography service from technology company Weishi Jindouyun..
Theservice can be applied to mapping and shooting panoramas and high-definition videos. The HD video transmission technology allows live streaming of what a drone is filming with its camera.
