Setting out from Haiyu Square, near Longfengtou Beach, the fluorescent-clad participants ran a five-kilometer route along the Coastal Road, waving glow sticks, some wearing fluorescent makeup.
Among the runners were international students from Fujian Normal University in Fuzhou, and the Zuiyanzhi (最颜值) night running group, which is headquartered in Fuzhou with branches in the Fujian cities of Xiamen, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou and Pingtan.

Jiang Rui, the head of the running group, said that they hope to introduce this convenient, healthy sport to more people.
The event also doubled as a music festival that encompassed dance music, folk ballads and pop songs. Participants enjoyed dancing to the music in the brisk autumn wind.
