The curtain rose on the 2016 National Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week Pingtan at Pingtan's Taiwan Innovation Park on Oct 12.

This year, the seven-day event aims to discover new economic drivers and push for the development of new business models.

The opening ceremony was attended by Pingtan's top start-ups, many of which come from Taiwan and were attracted to move to the mainland by the Taiwan Innovation Park. The business incubator, a symbol of Pingtan-Taiwan cooperation, will also serve as the main venue for the event over the coming days.

Representatives from start-up businesses from the Aoqian Taiwan-style town and Beigang village, a base for cultural and creative industry enterprises, also participated in the ceremony, which served as a platform for entrepreneurs to introduce their lines of business.

Wu Ping-hao, a restaurateur hailing from Taiwan, commented that Pingtan is the place where dreams come true, citing the wide range of subsidies the city offers.

Wu opened his restaurant offering Taiwan-style cuisine in the city half a year ago.
