Pingtan's border defense squad seized 1080 grams of methamphetamine in June after busting a drug trafficking ring in the Fujian city, the public security department announced on September 26.
The case was supervised by the provincial public security bureau of Fujian, Fjsen.com reported.
The border defense team were tipped off in March that a drug dealer nicknamed Zhang Ge (meaning 'Brother Zhang') was planning to conduct a drug transaction in Pingtan.
The squad locked the focus of their investigation on a local resident named Zhang Ming, who was detained previously after being found to be illegally possessing drugs.
A special task force mobilized afterwards and after a three months investigation, discovered a drug trafficking route leading from a southeastern province to Pingtan.
A team of police officers kept track of Chen Yong, the carrier transferring drugs from outside the province and captured Chen at a restaurant near a residential community.
The raid led to the seizure of 1060.6 grams of methamphetamine on site.
Meanwhile, another team apprehended suspects Zhang Ming and Liu Li, both Pingtan natives, and uncovered 15 grams of methamphetamine at Zhang Ming's residence.
