"The forum gave me more faith in Pingtan's future development", said Zhu Yiliang, secretary general of the Pingtan Association of Taiwan, after attending the 5th Common Homeland Forum held in Pingtan on June 13.
Zhu made the remark because he was able to solve a few puzzles on company operations at the forum. Zhu set up a company in Pingtan this March with registered capital of 100 million yuan ($15.2 million), aiming to serve the area's tourism infrastructure construction.
The forum was like a brainstorm, yielding lots of useful information and inspiring him to develop new plans for his company.
He will find a suitable corporate development plan by combining Taiwan's technologies with Pingtan's characteristics, instead of only following the Taiwan style, said Zhu.
He also expected that local authorities will hold more such activities, giving advice to entrepreneurs and helping their companies develop better, which is considered a win-win outcome for both sides.
The 5th Common Homeland Forum attracted more than 300 politicians, entrepreneurs and scholars from the mainland and Taiwan. It focused on transforming Pingtan into an international tourist destination and enhancing cross-Straits cooperation.
