The Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone is building a middle school affiliated with the Fujian Normal University (FNU) in its Jinjing Bay district, ptnet.cn reported on March 24.

Workers are proceeding with land leveling and pre-construction work. It will soon start the construction of the school's main structure, said the project manager.

The academy takes up about 83,000 square meters and will consist of three teaching buildings, an office building, a culture and sports center, a dining hall and dormitories.

With favorable location, beautiful surroundings and convenient traffic, it aims to develop into a first grade demonstration school in Fujian.

It also set up a two-stage enrollment plan. The first plan is to open 24 classes for local junior students and 30 for senior students. The second one is to enroll students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, in order to establish an international division.

The school also attached great importance to faculty recruitment. It published a notice to recruit 26 teachers on Feb 29 itself.

Having such a middle school is expected to improve education in the district, said local officials.
