Nine areas of Southeast China's Fujian province, including the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone have been listed among the first national all-region tourist demonstration areas, announced the National Tourism Administration recently.

The other eight are Wuyishan city, Yongding district of Longyan city, and counties of Xianyou, Taining, Yongchun, Dongshan, Liancheng and Pingnan.

All these places are among the 262 areas across China planned as all-region tourist destinations, which means that each such area as a whole will be managed and promoted as a tourist site and its tourism industries will be integrated as well as share resources.

The all-region tourism emphasizes an entire region as a tourist destination. This is different from the current scenic spot tourism in which scenic sites are usually independent from the region where they are located.

The all-region tourism will boost construction and increase prosperity throughout a whole area. Its tourist demonstration areas will have priority in central and regional budgets for investment, facilities development, promotional activities and professional training.

In general, it takes 2-3 years to build such a demonstration area.
