A kidnapped Chinese national from Pingtan county, Fujian province, has been rescued by the China embassy in South Africa, Strait News reported.

The man was abducted outside a store in Durban at around 7 am on March 16, according to a witness. A kidnapper called his family asking for a large ransom at 10:30 am.

Police at the Chinese embassy managed to track down the kidnappers and saved the man later in the afternoon.
