It is the second straight year for Pingtan to host the fair, which exhibited more than 1,000 special Taiwanese goods at the duty-free Taiwan Commodity Market on Thursday.
The trade fair is an important platform for showcasing Pingtan’s progress in opening-up and development, and will boost the integration and communication of people across the Taiwan Straits, said Li Dejin, director of PCPZ’s administrative committee at the opening ceremony.
“I hope exhibitors, enterprises and merchants from Taiwan can win more business opportunities through the platform, expanding their markets on the Chinese mainland. And at the same time the trade fair will become a bigger brand,” he said.
Among the 400-plus booths, some 350 are featuring Taiwan’s special commodities, including farm products, sideline products, aquatic products, and cosmetics, many of which made appearances on the Chinese mainland for the first time.
The fair is themed “Green, Health, Communication and Cooperation”, and incorporates more cultural elements, together with an arts performance by Taiwanese ethnic minorities.
The fair is open to the public from 9 am to 5 pm, and will continue through Nov 3.
