Two works of shell carving from Pingtan county have won innovation awards at a national artware trade fair, Pingtan Times reported on March 25.

Breeding by craft master Yao Rengui won the golden prize, while Pingtan Daffodils made by Zhao Shuhe and Wen Changqin won the bronze prize at the 49th National Trade Fair of Artware held in Fuzhou, capital city of Fujian, on March 24.

Yao, 68, said the honor gave him confidence to pass on the skill of shell carving to the next generation.

Wen Changqin said the combination of shell carving and daffodils will help Pingtan promote its image.
