A total of 110 road cameras, or electronic eyes, will soon be installed at 56 supervision sites in Pingtan county, east China's Fujian province.

The supervisory system is part of Pingtan's integrated customs regulatory systems implemented on Aug 1, which includes the establishment of two levels of customs barriers, a supervisory system around the whole of the county, a digital platform concerning information about customs supervision and a petty trade market open to residents of Pingtan and Taiwan.

The cameras, with a 360-degree view, will be installed on 6-meter poles along the coastline which stretches 408 kilometers. They will monitor activities near the two customs barriers, fishing ports and other areas under the supervision of the local customs department.

Control centers in different supervision zones are currently under construction, and workers are installing cables and lightning arresters, ahead of the installation of the electronic eyes.
