Li Dejin named Pingtan's top official

The Fujian Provincial CPC Committee selected Li Dejin as a member of the Fujian Provincial People's Government and director of the management committee of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, the nation's first special zone opening up to Taiwan, Pingtan's official website reported.
Li was also named member of the Party working committee of the pilot zone and the zone's Party secretary.
Gong Qinggai, the zone's outgoing chief official, resigned as member of the Fujian Provincial People's Government, member and secretary of the Party working committee of the pilot zone, and director of the pilot zone's management committee.
Li has previously served as a member and secretary of the Fujian Communications Department, and also as head of the department.
Li Dejin Biography
Li Dejin was born in December 1962 in Putian city, in east China's Fujian province, and joined the Communist Party of China in May 1986. He holds a Master's degree in Economics and a certificate of senior economist.
He was named secretary of the Party working committee of the Meizhou Island National Tourism and Resort Area in Putian in August 1995.
In November 1997, he took on the role of Party secretary of Xianyou county and was also an assistant to the head of the office of market and economic information of the Ministry of Agriculture.
In May 2002, he became a standing member of the Putian municipal CPC committee, and was named secretary of the city's politics and law commission, and then acting deputy mayor of the city.
In July 2006, he was named deputy director of the Fujian Provincial Development and Reform Commission and member of the commission's Party working committee, and he was also named director of the province's construction management office of key projects.
In April 2008, he became head of the Fujian Provincial Transportation Department and secretary of the department's Party working committee.
In October 2013, he was named member of the Fujian Provincial People's Government, secretary of the Party working committee of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone and director of the management committee of the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone
