A fire broke out in a forest near the Longyuan Wind Power Station in Luyang village, in Fujian province's Pingtan county, at 1 am on Oct 22, and the local fire brigade managed to extinguish the blaze, the Pingtan Times reported.

The local police station alerted the fire brigade, and 16 firefighters arrived at the site in two fire engines, as the flames were heading toward the wind power station. It took them about half an hour to bring the blaze under control.

An employee of the wind power station said that employees had noticed the fire and then tried to tackle it but, as it continued to spread, they contacted the police.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
