A senior official from the General Administration of Customs (GAC) has promised to fully support an integrated customs regulatory system in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone in Fujian province.
Zheng Caiming, deputy director of the department of logistics support of the GAC, made the remark during his visit to Pingtan on Tuesday to inspect the construction of the customs regulatory system.
The GAC has been supportive of Pingtan's opening-up and development. The logistics sector will spare no efforts to provide the equipment Pingtan needs, said Zheng.
Pingtan has greatly improved its infrastructure conditions and ecological environment over the past three years. The region will become a logistics and traffic hub between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, said Gong Qinggai, director of the pilot zone, adding that Pingtan hopes the GAC can give more support to its development.
The new customs regulatory system, which follows an innovative customs clearance model, is under construction.
The project will establish two levels of customs barriers. It also seeks to set up a round-the-island supervision system, a digital platform on customs supervision information, and a petty trade market open to residents of Pingtan and Taiwan.
The system will be put into operation by the end of this year.
