Zhang Rongming, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited Pingtan on June 18 to investigate its development situation.

During his one-day stay, Zhang briskly toured a slew of Pingtan's construction project sites such as Jinjingwan Boulevard, the Haixia Ruyi real estate project, Zhuyu Lake Park, Huandao (Island Ring) Road, Haiyu Plaza, Aoqian passenger terminal, the Pingtan county planning museum and many enterprises to get more detailed information on Pingtan's development.

At the Pingtan branch of TPK Holding, which is the first electronic high-tech enterprise in the pilot zone, Zhang urged management to make decent accommodations for employees.

Zhang praised the ongoing construction of an integrated underground pipe ditch along Tanxi Road, saying it has long-term prospects that contribute to the planning of the island city.
