Pingtan will make use of its advantageous tourist resources and its close relations with Taiwan to promote a "Cross-Straits Tourism" brand.

Seaside holiday resort

Pingtan will optimize its tourism development layout, scenic site construction and supporting facilities. Its seaside tourist resorts will be represented by the Tannan Bay and Haitan Bay tourist areas. Other recreational areas include Shipaiyang and Xianrenjing for abrasion landform sightseeing, the Junshan and Nanzhaishan eco-tourist scenic sites, and the Changjiangao and Shanqiao marine sports areas.

Cultural tourism

Pingtan will promote and preserve its cultural heritage with rich regional characteristics, including Austronesian and Pingtan traditional folk residences. The zone will also develop cultural products. In addition, it will reinforce cross-Straits collaboration in cultural tourism and sponsor tourist festivals, such as the Mazu worship ceremony, Beach Culture Festival, Cross-Straits Music Festival, cross-Straits yachting competition and Taiwan Gourmet Festival.

Recreation and healthcare Pingtan will combine its health-themed tourism and healthcare culture and develop diverse high-end tourist products related to medicine, healthcare and recreation. The zone also has plans to build large shopping malls, yacht clubs and a Taiwan Brand Avenue as parts of a premium cross-Straits recreation and healthcare resort.
