Pingtan will make use of its advantages in traditional industries and resource reserves and introduce advanced technology and ideas from Taiwan. It will also develop modern marine industries, such as precision farming, deep processing of aquatic products and marine biotechnology.

Precision farming

Pingtan encourages Taiwan farmers, in particular those from central and south Taiwan, to invest and start businesses in industries such as protected agriculture, agri-tourism and marine fisheries in the pilot zone. The zone will build gardens to cultivate narcissus plants, a Cross-Straits Fishery Science-Tech Exchange Park and cross-Straits collaborative centers.

Marine products processing

Pingtan will introduce advanced processing techniques from Taiwan and promote cross-Straits cooperation in the research and development of deep processing, refrigeration and preservation techniques. It will also develop fine and deep processing industries for marine products to become a processing base and distribution center for Taiwan marine products.

Marine life

The pilot zone will develop marine biotechnology research and development as well as emerging industries such as marine life extraction, marine biomedicine and marine resource utilization.
