Fujian province and Taiwan have agreed on the construction of an Offshore Cloud Data Center, with Pingtan providing cloud data storage services for Taiwan's telecommunication users.
This is the first time Pingtan will be involved in the construction of a cross-Straits information outsourcing center.
The center is part of Fujian's efforts to build the province's 4G network. Datang Telecom Technology and Industry Group and Nuoxi Telecom will help construct the 4G network in two trial cities in the province, Fuzhou and Xiamen.
A total of 13 cities will take part in the 4G network's trial run. Citizens in these cities will be able to enjoy 4G network services before the rest of China.
It's estimated that 90 percent of Fujian urban broadband users will be able to use the 20 Mbps Internet cable by the end of the year, with optical fiber users reaching about 1 million.
