The Chinese mainland has said it welcomes Mrs Lung Ying-tai to visit the mainland in proper capacities, a spokesman for the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office said Wednesday.

Lung Ying-tai is a renowned writer and currently the head of Taiwan's cultural affairs authority.

Spokesman Yang Yi said the mainland holds an open attitude in reaching agreements with Taiwan on cross-Straits cultural exchanges.

Both sides could sign a blanket agreement on the topic or make arrangements to address specific issues in cultural exchanges and cooperations, said Yang.

In response to questions about the upcoming 5th Cross-Straits Cultural Industries Fair in Xiamen in Fujian province, Yang said the cooperation between cultural sectors on both sides had a promising future and he welcomed more enterprises to participate in the event.
