A direct registration system for Taiwan companies has begun trial runs in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, an island county in Fujian province.

The new system allows industrial projects from Taiwan-backed companies in the zone to be exempted from document approval procedures. They can register directly at the local industrial and commercial administration office and obtain a business license the same day.

The first three Taiwan companies enjoyed the convenient new registration procedure in February 2012. The new system is unprecedented and will expand nationwide.
