A Fujian delegation headed by its provincial Party chief You Quan visited Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia on April 20.
The delegation first visited Petaling Street, Chinatown in the city, where they received a warm welcome from local Chinese Malaysians, especially those of Fujian origin.
Then the delegation visited the Federation of Hokkien Associations of Malaysia, a 60-year-old organization with 192 affiliates.
After learning about the group's history and functions of its sub-organizations, You expressed gratitude to their contribution in carrying forward Chinese culture and promoting social and economic exchange between the two countries. He also encouraged Hokkien people to continue making contributions to Malaysian society and take the opportunity of the Belt and Road Initiative and support development of their homeland.
Huang Huikang, China's Ambassador to Malaysia, extended his welcome to the delegation. He also said he believed that the cooperation between Fujian and Malaysia will lead to bright prospects for the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
