Quanzhou will hold a series of activities from Feb 1 to 29 to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival and promote Quanzhou culture.
1. Ancient brick exhibition
Time: Feb 8-22
Venue: Quanzhou South Architecture Museum
Detail: A display of the origin and development of Fujian's red brick architecture.
2. Boneless lanterns' making-up
Time: Feb 20, 9:30am
Venue: Quanzhou Maritime Museum
Detail: National intangible culture heritage inheritors will be invited to show the workmanship of boneless lanterns. Boneless lanterns, or frameless lanterns, rely on multiple layers of paper stuck together. Fine needle holes pricked into the paper let out rays of light from within.
3. Lantern show
Time: Feb 20-23
Venue: Xinmen Road in Licheng district, Zhongjun World City and Fengze Square in Fengze district
Detail: Quanzhou will be illuminated with more than 1,000 lanterns during the Lantern Festival.
4. Exhibition of porcelain paintings and Chinese paintings
Time: Feb 5-29
Venue: Quanzhou Maritime Museum
Detail: About 100 porcelain pieces and Chinese paintings will be on display.
5. Artwork exhibition
Time: Feb 21-24
Venue: Quanzhou Painting Academy
Detail: The exhibition will feature paintings of famous artists that show Quanzhou's Maritime Silk Road culture.
6. Photography exhibition
Time: Feb 1-29
Venue: Quanzhou Library
Detail: The exhibit includes excellent photos from the library's historical collection.
