Fujian's first park covered by 5G network opened to public on April 21.

The Feifengshan park situated in Fuzhou, the capital city reopened to local citizen on the day after some upgrades and renovations.

The park is just among a slew of 5G commercialization projects currently under construction in Fuzhou, as the city has been chosen as a pilot city of 5G network operated by China Telecommunications.

The application of 5G technologies in the park allows visitors to access super-fast network connectivity. It will only take one a few seconds to download a film at the park when a 5G cellphone is available, said a staffer at the park.

A fleet of three driverless electric microbus has also been put into service in the park.

The bus named Apolong, jointly developed by tech giant Baidu Inc and Xiamen King Long United Automobile Industry Co, 4.3 meters long and 2 meters wide, has the capacity for eight seats and six standees and can run more than 100 kilometers on a single charge.

On top of these, visitors are also able to experience other cutting edge technologies at the park such as AR and facial recognition.

The second Digital China Summit is slated to be held in Fuzhou on May 6-8. The event aims to serve as a platform for China's policies on IT development, showcasing the achievements of e-government and the digital economy and the exchange of theoretical and practical experiences in building a digital China, said Yang Xiaowei, deputy director of the Cyberspace Administration of China.

Statistics show the scale of China's digital economy reached 31 trillion yuan, or $4.6 trillion, by the end of last year. This fast-growing digital economy accounts for one-third of the national GDP.
