Nine 5A class attractions - the nation's top-graded tourist attractions - in Fujian will lower entrance ticket prices starting from the week-long National Day holiday, local media reported on Sept 25.
The move comes as part of the local government's push to attract more tourists by offering them cheaper access to its major scenic attractions.
Among the nine attractions are Mount Wuyi, Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, Gulang Islet, Mount Taimu and Yongding Tulou.
Besides these nine attractions, 19 additional scenic spots in the province are also set to slash entrance fees in the near future, according to local authorities.
The reduction rate is estimated at 21.83 percent on average, saving tourists over 100 million yuan ($14.5 million) annually, said a spokesperson from the Fujian provincial price bureau.
As a coastal province in East China, Fujian is emerging as one of the hottest tourism destinations in the country. During the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday which wrapped up on Monday, Fujian welcomed over 4.5 million tourists from home and abroad, generating 3.054 billion yuan in revenue, official data shows.
