Jian'ou, situated in the northern part of Fujian, is a renowned historical and cultural city with history over 3,000 years. Its congenial climate and fertile soil has long made it a treasured place for producing agro-products including rice, tea, edible mushrooms and tangerines.
In recent years, the local government has actively been promoting the combined development of tourism with tea industry, and it appears to be paying dividends, as an increasing number of visitors are drawn to the place for sightseeing.
