The 13th National People's Congress opened its first session Monday morning at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
The Government Work Report delivered by Premier Li Keqiang amid the meeting inspired roughly 3,000 deputies elected from all walks of life across the country.
Liu Xianxiang, a deputy to the Congress from Southeast's Fujian province told the reporter of fjsen.com that the remarkable accomplishments, China has achieved over the past five years under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, greatly strengthened his confidence in the nation's future development.
Zhang Liansheng, another Fujian NPC deputy was particularly impressed by some of the goals mentioned in the report to further improve people's livelihoods in 2018.
The report sets an array of goals for the central government work in 2018, Zhang said, and those such as lifting more than 10 million people in rural areas out of poverty and cutting mobile internet services rates by at least 30 percent by the year, fully manifested that the issues concerning people's daily lives is always on the top of government work agenda.
His views struck a wide chord with other deputies. Li Qiong and Zeng Yunying, also from the Fujian delegation described the report as “inspiring and “heart-warming", adding that they believe people’s lives are set to be increasingly better along with the development of the country.
Meanwhile, Guo Jun, another Fujian NPC, called for more poverty alleviation efforts specifically tailored to local conditions, and finally reaching the standards of “being recognized by the people and the times” as stated on the report.
