Government ought to roll out more policies or measures to boost the enterprise-university partnership and encourage enterprises to pour more investment in research and development in the coming years, according to Zheng Lansun, a member of the National Committee of the 13th the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Zheng, also an academician in the Chinese Academy of Sciences, made the remarks during an interview with People.cn ahead of the CPCCC annual meeting.
He noted that the move is set to tackle the problem of weak R&D capabilities most small and medium sized enterprises in China are facing. "Government should offer more incentives to motivate college graduates to seek employment in the enterprises, especially SMEs," Zheng said.
Meanwhile, the companies should also be encouraged to strengthen cooperation with colleges and research institutes to reinforce their own R&D capabilities, he added.
During the interview, the political adviser also called for better integration of scientific and technological research in regional economic development as well as the perfection of the scientific and technological research evaluation system.
