Pingtan's natural beauty captivated numerous foreign guests during their short visit to the city to attend the China–Small Island States Ocean-related Ministerial Round Table on Sept 21-22.
As a city sprawled over 126 islands, Pingtan boasts a 408-kilometer-long coastline and unspoiled natural landscapes.
Starting from August 2016, the local government has been promoting the city as a hit tourism destination across the globe.
The campaign appears to be paying dividends. From Jan to July, Pingtan received roughly 2 million visitors, 30 percent more than during the same period last year, while the city’s total tourism revenues increased by 70 percent year-on-year to reach 1 billion yuan ($150 million).
