Hong Kong designer Yang Zi’s runway show combining smart fabrics, special dying technology and wearable devices brought the Shishi Fashion Week to a spectacular end on April 27, after nearly 20 runway shows in four days.
Yang Zi, a winner of the Golden Thimble Award, China’s top prize for garment design, made sure that there was a Shishi element in the show by introducing locally produced smart fabrics.
The 2017 version of Shishi Fashion Week was innovative, incorporating runways, on-site purchases, and follow-up trading and cooperation. It also tapped live video streaming and attracted large audiences online.
The opening show on April 24 attracted 1.4 million viewers, being aired on social media platform Sina Weibo, microfilm sharing application Miaopai, and live video streaming site Yizhibo.com.
The total viewing size of the fashion week’s Sina Weibo page exceeded 18 million after the opening show. Nearly 5,000 people left comments.
During the fashion week, Sina Weibo’s nine live video streaming sites attracted more than 2 million viewers.
