Senior citizens in Fujian province formed both audience and performers for a Spring Festival celebration held at a theatre inside Fujian's veteran cadres center in Fuzhou on Jan 13.
The series of charming art performances were held to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year. It was the first time Fujian has dedicated a night of celebrations especially for its more aged citizens.

The event allowed Fujian's elderly persons to stage their talents and offer entertainment to peers. The performers were students of colleges for senior citizens, veteran cadres, and senior residents from various communities.
They staged a total of 16 performances that included group dancing, singing, taichi and yoga performances, fashion show, play and short sketch.

The event was organized by Fujian veteran cadres bureau, Fujian civil affairs department, and Fujian Senior-citizen University. According to the organizers the event was part of Fujian's efforts to enrich the cultural life of senior citizens. It also aimed to elevate the awareness surrounding the importance of respecting senior citizens.
