Taiwan Town in Aoqian district of Pingtan, Fujian province hosted a Taiwan-themed music concert on Feb 14, according to ptnet.cn, adding flavor to the Spring Festival holiday.
The concert was performed by three famous Taiwan singers and was aimed at Taiwan people who were unable to return home during Spring Festival and may have been feeling homesick. The performance included many popular songs in Minnan (Southern Fujian) dialect.
Xue Qingde, a Taiwan entrepreneur who started business in Pingtan, said that it was wonderful to have the chance to listen to songs from his hometown.
Lin Jiangling, deputy director of Pingtan administrative committee, also delivered a speech at the concert. Lin expressed gratitude for Taiwan entrepreneurs' contribution to Pingtan.
She also said that the Taiwan Town, also known as Pingtan-Taiwan Duty-free Commodity Market, will develop more preferential policies so that entrepreneurs can enjoy a better business environment in the new year.
The concert was one of the highlights of Taiwan Town's first tourism and culture festival, which runs from Jan 17 to Feb 21. The month-long event consists of various performances and aims to enable Taiwan people who work and live in Pingtan to enjoy a happy Spring Festival and to promote cross-Straits cooperation.
