A vocational school in Pingtan, Fujian province recently signed an agreement with a rural tourism company in Taiwan to jointly establish a tourism training center, in a bid to nurture more professionals to help Pingtan reach its goal of becoming an international tourism island, according to ptnet.cn, on Nov 13.
Gao Yunxiang, a school leader, said that Taiwan's tourism sector is mature and will contribute to the talent cultivation in Pingtan. The school will open courses on rural tourism later based on the cooperation.
According to the agreement, the vocational school will provide teaching areas and facilities for the upcoming training center, while the Taiwan company is to offer first-class teachers.
Gao went on to say that the training center, which is under preparation and is expected to go operational by the end of this year, is the first step for cooperation in vocational education between Pingtan and Taiwan.
Local authorities also said that Pingtan is tapping for ways to boost its tourism sector by developing and promoting tourism products and cultivating more talented personnel.
