A medical center at the athlete’s village of the first National Youth Games is now open, local media reported on Wednesday.
The center takes up an area of 500 square meters on the first floor of the No.11 Building in the village near Fuwan Road in Cangshang district, Fuzhou city.
It will provide comprehensive medical service to more than 7,000 temporary inhabitants, most of them athletes, coaches and judges, during the Games from Oct 18 and 27.
The staff, designated from Fuzhou No.1 Hospital, are divided into five teams – first-aid, on-site hygiene, disease control, disinfection and biological vector control.
All 22 buildings in the villages and surrounding areas have gone through a through examination to guarantee a clean and safe environment for the athletes.
Besides opening the medical center at the village, organizers of the NYG have also joined with 19 hospitals to provide medical treatment at 25 venues for the Games.
The NYG is the largest sports meeting ever in Fujian, with more than 7,300 young athletes – aged between 14 to 18 - from over 80 cities coming to compete.
Over 300 events will be held in all nine prefecture-level cities and the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, with Fuzhou, the capital city, to stage more than 60 percent of them.
