The 8th Xiamen International Animation Festival was inaugurated in the International Conference and Exhibition Center of Xiamen on Aug 21.

Hosted by the Xiamen Municipal Government , the festival will last four days, from August 21 to 24.

This year’s animation festival attracted 161 industry associations as well as animation and video game enterprises from around the world, including Japan, Korea and Singapore. 56 foreign exhibitors attended, representing 45.39% of the total, an annual increase of 15% compared to last year.

This year’s Xiamen International Animation Festival features holographic live performance of virtual idols, the Cyber Sousa awarding ceremony, a comic game road show and the original paintings of the domestic cartoon movie, “Monkey King: Hero is Back.”

Exhibiting Chinese cartoons to the world and bringing in excellent foreign cartoons, the festival serves as a platform for professionals to communicate, a carnival for cartoon lovers, and an important link in the development of the animation industry.
