A delegation from Tsinghua University, led by its former president Gu Binglin, visited Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) in Fujian province on Aug 3 to investigate its development.
The guests toured key projects including Haitan Ancient Town, Aoqian Ferry Terminal, the duty-free Taiwan Commodity Market and the Pingtan Planning Museum.
They also showed strong interest in Pingtan’s increasing cooperation with Taiwan.
Li Dejin, secretary of the Pingtan Party Work Committee, briefed the guests on Pingtan’s development, noting that infrastructure construction is moving forward and economic reforms are being carried out.
Taiwan is a global leader in agriculture, science, finance and medical treatment. Li suggests Tsinghua University develop precision agriculture and finance innovation in Pingtan in cooperation with Taiwan’s teams.
Pingtan is an experimental field for cross-Straits cooperation, and Tsinghua University is looking forward to joining hands with Taiwan colleges to launch cooperation projects in Pingtan, said Gu.
