The Xiamen Disease Control and Prevention Center issued its latest health forecast to the public on May 30.
According to the forecast, the major infectious diseases that should be paid strong attention to in the near future are hand-foot-mouth disease, intestinal infectious disease, influenza and chicken pox, and imported diseases that should be paid strong attention to are MERS and dengue fever.
According to the Xiamen Disease Control and Prevention Center, several cases of imported dengue fever have been reported in the city in recent years. As the fact that an increasing amount of dengue fever cases have been reported in Southeast Asian countries this year, experts suggest timely medical treatment if any resident having visited those countries shows any of the symptoms of dengue fever.
Residents should also pay great attention to MERS, which had its first case found in South Korea this year and China's first case found on May 30.
