A delegation from Taiwan's Ming Chuan University (MCU), led by its vice president Wang Jinlong, visited the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone (PCPZ) in Fujian province on April 2.

Wang, who has been to Pingtan three times, told Li Dejin, director of PCPZ’s administration that MCU is looking forward to cooperating with Pingtan in advanced education methods.

MCU is a selective private university based in Taipei with a history of 58 years. It currently has more than 20,000 students, including 1,100 from the Chinese mainland, he added.

Pingtan is striving to become a “common homeland” for people from across the Taiwan Straits, and education is an integral part of realizing the goal, said Li.

A world-class university will be the backbone of Pingtan’s education and cultivate professionals who will contribute to Pingtan’s development. Pingtan hopes to enhance its communication with MCU and boost student exchanges in the future, he added.
