Fujian province stepped up its anti-graft campaign in 2014 by locking in on some senior officials, according to an annual work report by the Provincial Procuratorate.
A total of 79 officials at divisional level or above, including 9 ay department level, were investigated and punished for 82 crimes related to corruption, bribery and embezzlement of public funds of at least 1 million yuan, according to the report.
The 79 blundering high-ranking officials, 34 percent more than the previous year, were taking advantage of their duties to seek illegal profits for themselves or others.
The Procuratorate handled 1,171 similar power-abusing crimes last year, and probed 1,567 officials and cadres, up by 8 percent.
