The construction of the Xiehe Hospital, which is designated to be the first top-level hospital in Pingtan, reached a milestone, as the in-patient building finished the roof-topping work on Dec 25.
It means all the buildings now have basic structures and will go through internal decoration, according to workers.
A medical center for Taiwanese people was also topped out about a week ago.
The construction of Xiehe Hospital started on September 9, 2012. It is designed to be the first grade-three hospital - the highest of China's three-tier grading system for public hospitals – in Pingtan.
The first phase of the hospital occupies an area of 154,000 square meters and will have 1,000 beds. There will be six main buildings – an outpatient building, in-patient building, medical care center for Taiwanese, radiotherapy building and infection treatment building – as well as some supplementary housing.
